You Can Tell A Book By Its Cover

As a lover  of books, I lament the serious decline in bookbinding quality of today's printed material. Sewn leather bindings, marbleized endpapers and gilt edges have all given away to paperback covers and glued pages in the name of economic expediency.

Here are some fine examples of the bookbinding art from a time when the information in a book was considered so valuable that it rated special treatment.
